- 1. Service area and target customer
List the zip codes you will serve and why. Residential recurring? Commercial accounts? Termite/WDI for real estate? Density beats coverage.
- 2. Services and pricing
Initial, quarterly, monthly and one-time prices. Build them in the pricing calculator and sanity-check against HomeAdvisor’s $100-$300 quarterly range.
- 3. Licensing and compliance
Your individual license, business license, categories and insurance minimum - pull them from your state licensing page. Note CE hours and renewal dates.
- 4. Revenue model
Accounts x visits x price, month by month, with a churn assumption. Use the worksheet below.
- 5. Operating costs
Truck (IRS 2026 rate: 76 cents/mile from July 1 as a proxy), materials, insurance premium, software, marketing, and a tech wage (BLS May 2025 US mean $22.31/hr) even if the tech is you.
- 6. Sales and marketing
How you get the first 100 accounts: referrals, door-to-door in target zones, Google Business Profile, realtor relationships for WDI work.
- 7. Milestones
Break-even account count, when you hire tech #2, when you add a second truck.
